World Student day is celebrated on 15th October every year across the world. The world students day is observed on 15th October to commemorate the birthday anniversary of the great Indian scientists and former president of India Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam. Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam was loved by the students across India. He loved to teach and that is how he wanted to be remembered.

He loved his students and always encourage them to learn more. Due to his love towards the education, students and his focus and efforts in promoting the education United Nations(UN) declared his birthday (October 15) as ‘World Student’s Day’ in 2010. Since that day World Student’s Day is celebrated on 15th October across the world.

Dr. Kalam was the most loved president of India. The youth of India admires him and looks up to him as a teacher and a guide. He always encouraged students to dream big and work hard for those dreams. His sudden and unfortunate demise on  July 27, 2015, shooked the nation. Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam took his last breathe while doing what he loved the most, teaching.

He was delivering a lecture to the students of IIM Shillong. He fell down the stage suffering a stroke and passed away almost instantly. the whole nation grieved his death irrespective of caste, religion. He was the people’s president. He showed us how a child from a small village in India can grow up to be a great scientist of the time and the President of India.

Importance of World Student’s Day | Why We Celebrate it?

World students’ day is celebrated across India and the world to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam. This day is observed in school, colleges, and educational institutes. Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam was a great scientist and a very humble yet inspiring person.

To honour his work as a scientist in the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO),  In 1981, Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam was awarded the Padma Bhushan and in 1990, the Padma Vibhushan. Later he was awarded the Bharat Ratna Award which is the highest civilian award of India.

It is very important to set an example for the students for what can dreaming big and hard work can do. The people must understand the work and efforts of Dr Abdul Kalam. Hence it is important to celebrate the world students day to remember a man who spent his life for the betterment of the nation, society, and students.

History of World Students Day

The history and origin of world students day go back to 2010. To honour Dr. Abdul Kalam for his contribution in promoting the importance of education and encouraging millions of students through his speeches and lectures United Nations decided to declare the birthday of Dr. Abdul Kalam(15 October) as the World Students’ Day.

And since then 15th October is celebrated as World Students’ Day in India and the world. This day is mostly observed in schools and colleges in India. On this day, various activities like essay writing, speech competitions, quizzes, debates, science fairs, and exhibitions are organized in the schools and colleges.

World Students Day is celebrated across India and world to remember the birthday of Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam. Schools and colleges can also host science fairs, science exhibition to create interest in science and technology in the minds of students.
